Luminous sky illusions

EcoSlim SkyCeilings are luminous sky illusions displayed in an ultra-thin, toxin-free, energy-efficient system. The low-profile design reportedly eliminates ceiling-clearance limitations, needing only 3 1/2 inches to install. The image tile is 1/4 inch below the illuminated edge-lit light guide, providing a bright image. The dimmable system provides 0% to 100% illumination control and is gasketed to prevent contamination of clean environments. Applications include healthcare, hospitality, commercial, institutional, and residential environments. The company uses evidence-based design research to support the product’s ability to alleviate stress and increase comfort and productivity.

Mixed-Use Building Promotes Green

Pella energy-efficient windows are just one of the green features that sell this development to buyers.

Morgan Park Place, Nashville, TN, is a mixed-use residential and retail development that combines upscale urban living with an eco-friendly, energy-efficient design. High-performance lofts, flats, three-story townhomes, and single-story cottages epitomize the best of the city's new urban lifestyle and modern green-building practices.

High-efficiency windows and doors have become part of the marketing advantage of this green multi-use building in Nashville.

The winning design for the space, by Dryden Abernathy Architecture Design, Nashville, was not only an earth-friendly residential development, but also included "an urban village" where residents live, work, and play. Even before it was completed, Morgan Park Place was an example of environmental stewardship-more than 50% of construction waste was recycled on site.

The exterior design of Morgan Park Place's residential and retail buildings includes a variety of surfaces to ensure a pleasing, modern landscape that will stand for generations. Many sustainable materials were also used, including bamboo flooring; Energy Star-qualified windows, doors, and appliances; on-demand water heaters; recycled rubber pavers on rooftop decks; and highly efficient heating and cooling equipment. The developers' efforts resulted in living spaces that are 50% more energy-efficient overall than conventionally built homes.
