GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, recently produced its one billionth square foot of EverGuard Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) single ply roofing membrane. TPO roofing, which offers a combination of durability, performance, and reflectivity, is known for its energy saving properties. The EverGuard® TPO roofing line includes a wide range of products that carry ENERGY STAR® and Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) designations.
Reflective or ‘cool’ roofing remains a growth segment of the construction marketplace, and recent decisions by several government agencies – including the U.S. Navy – to require reflective roofing on all future projects, are expected to support the expansion of the cool roofing marketplace. The ‘greening’ of building codes, as well as the growing influence of the US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) green building rating system, have been additional drivers in the growth of the cool roofing marketplace.
GAF introduced the EverGuard® reflective TPO product line at about the same time that the LEED rating system program was introduced, in 1999.
